Editorial Review for Harborside Inn of Boston – by Gayot.com
The Scene
A warehouse when it was built in 1858, this eight-story building has since been renovated to accommodate a modern hotel. Its excellent location makes its rates seem too good to be true, while offering quick and easy access to neighboring attractions such as Faneuil Hall and the waterfront. Unfortunately, this also means proximity to Boston's extensive construction project, the Big Dig, which can get loud. Still, guests enjoy walking to shops and restaurants, the Freedom Trail and the New England Aquarium.
The Details
Guest rooms display Victorian decor with Oriental rugs covering hardwood floors. Exposed-brick walls and cherry-wood accents add to the charm. Some rooms overlook a central atrium featuring skylights, while others have views of the harbor. All are equipped with wireless high-speed Internet access. The on-site restaurant, Margo Bistro, serves three meals a day.

I am planning a trip back and looking into hotels and to see the Harborside Inn on top of any list is shocking. But then I realized that that was why I stayed there in August. So I want point out a few of the reasons why the hotel was sub par in my opinion. First we get there and boxes are everywhere making some places to tight to roll my bag. This by the way cannot fit 2 suitcases in the closet because the rooms are extremely large for Boston but the closets were made way to small. Why not put some of the space to use. It also worried us when we saw a fan in the closet. This is because the nice sized room (with plenty of dead space) had a very small vent in the corner next to the windows that the maid service wouldn't keep the shades closed when we left in hopes of keeping some of the heat down. You will need the fan. And I could not open the windows in our room which is where the fire escape was. The Bathroom also plenty big had nothing but the sink and back of the toilet to put anything. A shelf under the sink would be a nice use of space. I cannot think of any reason to not at least put a hook on the back of the door or a couple on the wall in the main room either. The Inn has plenty of potential. It is a converter warehouse. It is in a great location right behind Faneuil Hall Marketplace where I always seem to end up, and right next to a T stop. It is a easy walk to the Harbor Walk and the North End. However, I stayed there 3 months ago and still hate that in all the things I read about it none it said how it was such a bad room. I had a deal with in $150 in the Back Bay and am still wishing I would have taken it.
Pros: Location
Cons: Room Quality, Bad A/C, No Service, Poor Bathroom, Over Hyped

Stayed here twice. Last time on 11/19/05. The room faced the side street with a bar next door that exuded a noise level beyond any city noise I have ever heard. We did not fall asleep until almost 3am. It sounded like the patrons were right in the room with us. The manager apologized but would not make any monetary restitution. I stayed there last year and our window faced inside to an atrium and a wedding was going on until late. Noisy once again but no where near the front room. Location is fabulous but not worth losing sleep over.
Pros: proximity to attracti
Cons: noise, no in room coffee, small
